Spiritual direction

The goal of Spiritual Direction is to help people notice the movement of God in their lives and to respond.

What is spiritual direction

Spiritual direction is about listening attentively to that small still voice Who convicts. It is about LOVE that wells from deep within and then responding to LOVE’s call.

Who is it for?

Spiritual direction had in the past been associated with the discernment of religious callings. This view is somewhat narrow because WE ARE ALL CALLED. There is the spiritual in each one of us.

“I have come so that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10, NIV).

Living life to the fullest requires an understanding of our mission on earth. Spiritual Direction tends to the holy within regardless of your faith tradition and religious beliefs.

What spiritual direction is not

Spiritual direction is not counselling or psycho-therapy. If deemed necessary, directees will be referred to other professional help. However, it is worth noting that spiritual direction complements other forms of therapy. What spiritual direction can do for you A spiritual guide is a prayerful soul friend with whom you can talk about the inner movements of your spirit. It is about prayer*. It is about noticing the presence of the Holy One in the midst of your sufferings and your joys. It is about finding the Holy in the midst of work, family and other stressful commitments. It is about slowing down and noticing what is moving inside you. Being in spiritual direction kindles a period for you to take a breather, to sense and to be in touch with self.

*Prayer means different thing to different people. Prayer as we first understand it is conversation with God. It is also about God conversing with us. At the soul level, it is about finding joy in seeing children laugh and play, in walking the dog, and more. What is prayer for you? What are your longings? Explore this and more in spiritual direction.
