To see we must forget the name of the thing we are looking at.

~ Claude Monet

This morning as I read this quote I immediately thought how it could apply to when parents are, say, scolding their child for something wrong the child did. For example, instead of confronting the child and the unconscious mind thinking “you’re useless. So lazy. What can I do with you?”, the distraught parent should instead be gazing (see) at the true core of the child – this child is loveable, this child is God-given, I pray for wisdom to be a parent who understands my child. The scolding should be directed at the behavior – the child’s tardiness in study, and not at the child.

Blessings, readers. May God grant us all wisdom to see.
